Creating a New Strategy Guide on the Wiki

The Wiki can easily host strategy guides for others to view. It makes them easier to find and update than Forum Posts on various Spirit Island forums, and gives a central repository for them all. Creating a Guide on the Wiki is simple and easy, just follow the steps and keep to the guidelines.

First, you need an account. If you do not have one already, either contact Lynkfox on Reddit or -post in the official wiki thread on the GTG Forums- to get one. PM whomever responds to the thread or on Reddit your email address and desired username.

Then you are ready to create your guide.

Where to put it?

All Guides should be subpages of the Spirit or Adversary that you are creating a guide for. This means, much like this page, they should follow the original page with a /

So if you want to create a guide for Heart of the Wildfire, named 'Heart's Content: A Guide to Fire', you would create it at the page Heart of the Wildfire/Heart's Content: A Guide to Fire

The easiest way to do that is to make a link in the strategy section of that Spirit, and then click it to get right to the Create a Page.

OK, how do I make that link?

Go to the Spirit/Adversary in question, and click edit while you are logged in. Once so, scroll down till you see the Strategy section. Add, under the 'Links to Guides' section on a new line, the following

{{sacredsite}} [[Spirit Name/Name of Guide]]

If you were creating a guide for an Adversary, instead of the sacred site icon, you would use {{invader|explorer}}

So for are above example, with A Guide to Fire, you would add:

{{sacredsite}} [[Heart of the Wildfire/Heart's Content: A Guide to Fire]]

When you hit Save Page and go to the strategy tab, you will see a red link to your guide. Click it, and you will be taken to the create a page for your new guide; just make sure to put the following at top of the page so it is categorized as a Guide.

<noinclude>[[Category:Guide]]

Put in your content, and you're done!

Suggested Sections

You can format your guide however you want, even uploading pictures. Wiki code is very strong, supporting even CSS elements such as div, span, and more. There are a ton of things you can do, but you don't have to do any of them if you don't want to.

Here are some suggestions for sections, if you need some help.

  • General - A place for general strategy
  • Scenario/Adversary - How to play the spirit in certain Scenarios or Adversaries, or how to play against the Adversary with various Spirits
  • Power Cards - Good cards to look for, element icons to try and achieve.

There are a ton more options and things you could add, go wild with it!
